In July of 1985, ten young adults formed an ensemble to create different
avenues of musical worship at the First Methodist Church in Hueytown, AL.
They called themselves SonRise Christian Vocal Band.
SonRise's first concert was in December, 1985. Starting with a
make-do sound system, SonRise began receiving invitations to sing at other churches.
It became apparent that God had plans for this group. So they began working
on their repertoire and they presented their next concert the following Easter.
Since then, through the grace of God and the love and support of family
and friends, SonRise has had the opportunity to travel all around the North Alabama
Conference and even across the border to Georgia singing for not only United Methodist
Churches but several other denominations.
Understanding the diversity of people within each congregation, SonRise
hopes to touch the hearts of all. There is no one word that sums up their style of
music. From southern gospel to contemporary, traditional hymns to classical,
humorous to serious, SonRise's main focus is to share God's word and the salvation through
Jesus, His Son.
